Practice Focus

Forrest W. Lewis practiced law in Colorado beginning in 1974, and retired in December of 2019. He earned his J.D. at Baylor University where he served as a Section Editor of the Baylor Law Review.  His areas of practice include the defense of persons accused of crime, both “blue” and “white collar,” representing people who are seriously injured in auto accidents, drafting wills and probating estates, and commercial litigation.

Forrest is a past president of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, and was the first recipient of the prestigious Jonathan Olom Award in 1985.  Forrest has also received the Charles Dillon Public Service Award (Arapahoe County Bar Association) for his outstanding public interest service in 1994.  He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America for over 20 years, and was honored to be listed in Best Lawyers in America – Criminal Defense Lawyer of the Year in 2014.  Forrest has been recognized in Super Lawyers for over 10 years, and has been rated as AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell for the past 25 years.

Forrest is a trained Mediator and Restorative Justice Facilitator.  He has served as a court-appointed Special Master in civil cases, and has been a frequent presenter in continuing legal education courses for a wide range of sponsors.  He has been on the adjunct faculty of Denver University Law School and has been a guest speaker at Johnson and Wales University.

For him, the practice of law has never been boring or meaningless; for it is the practice of life.  It is righting that which is wrong, restoring that which is broken, and bringing honor and dignity to human relations.
